The Department of Translation Studies at the Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor, extends an invitation to the Erasmus+ ReTrans project Multiplier Event titled: Between Visibility and Invisibility – Social Meaning and Perceptions of Community Interpreting. This event, scheduled for January 24, 2024, from 3 pm to 5 pm, will explore the intricate layers of community interpreting, exploring its social significance and the perceptions surrounding this vital aspect of communication.
What to Expect: At the heart of the discussion will be an exploration of the broader social meaning and role of community interpreting in society. Attendees will gain insights into the conditions under which community interpreting occurs and the pivotal role community interpreters play in facilitating communication in diverse settings. The event will also touch upon how public authorities and institutions collaborate with community interpreters, exploring expectations and shedding light on the significance of interpreter training and education.
